Before reviewing the SecuPress Plugin, I would like to tell you a story… You will think this is all about SecuPress review but it isn’t.
John has no backups to restore his site and thus he needs to remove those bad scripts from the whole site which will take him more and more time to find and remove those malware scripts.
Do you want to become like John?
I know, Youn’t. But making a backup doesn’t mean you are safe from brute force attacks, bot attacks or anything which will harm your site.
None wants their sites to be shown like this,
or get a redirection like this
How to fix this? How to get rid of the WordPress hacks??
The answer is simple, Keep an eye on the loopholes of your site and fix them as soon as possible.
Oh, then how to find loopholes? any guide?
Well, different WordPress install having different security holes and this is why I am using SecuPress Plugin to know about the security issues and a solution to fix everything to get protected from attacks.
In this article, I am going to talk about SecuPress Security plugin and reviewing the features.
SecuPress is a freemium security plugin formerly developed by WP Media, the creators of WP Rocket, ‘the best caching plugin’ and Imagify, image compressor and optimizer plugin, but since July 2017, Julio Potier, a French Web Security Consultant since years now is handling it.
The plugin itself is new, and great features are coming out in every update.
SecuPress is the upcoming security superstar plugin for WordPress.
The Plugin UI is great and have a pretty solid design with simple options kit which makes it more easier to use. Even a newbie can use it without searching on google.
After Activating the Plugin You will see a Welcome MSG with a box to scan your site.
When you click on the “Scan My Website” button, a nice and fast scanner will start scanning your WordPress core files, plugins, and themes to make sure that if your site is still on risk or not.
This is the Security audit feature by SecuPress plugin from which you can check up to 35 security points in 5minutes only…
Once the Security audit is done, you will get your site security grade and a list of the points that have been checked by SecuPress.
You will have to check all points and start fixing them. Points are divided into sections, each section represents one of the plugin’s modules and their solution with a guide which makes it easy to solve.
The Security audit is a great feature helps you find out the security loopholes and to detect themes and plugins that are vulnerable or that have been tampered with to include malicious code. If you install one of these, your security module will send out an email alert and give you a warning in WordPress.
SecuPress plugin takes security further by limiting plugin activation, deactivation, installation and removal in your production (live) website. Plugin and theme uploads via .zip files will be on lockdown as well to block off this easy hacking route.
After the Auto Security Fixes, The Plugins shows all other issues that you need to solve manually or by plugin. It is great to see SecuPress Provides a simple solution for every issue.
SecuPress has 12 modules, 33 free and 37 pro option. Each one is responsible for providing you with the security tweaks that you can apply for every part of your website.
Unlike the other security plugins, SecuPress have a great management, having a set of options for a particular module. I have been using several security plugins for years, each one of them has its own set of features, but I have never seen a security plugin that organizes and divides its features into sections like what I have seen in SecuPress.
Here are some of the Popular features of free version of SecuPress:
- Anti Brute Force login
- Blocked IPs
- Security alerts (1)
- Malware Scan (1)
- Block country by geolocation (1)
SecuPress Hot Features:
Features that you won’t find in most WordPress Security Plugin.
- Protection of Security Keys
- Block visits from Bad Bots
- Vulnerable Plugins & Themes detection (1)
- Security Reports in PDF format (1)
The Pricing of pro version is like this.

Support & Updates
SecuPress is still new in the market, but SecuPress Team is well-known for supporting its products. Undoubtedly, they will provide the same level of support as they do for their other plugins.
I was looking for some more features which are missed like, A dashboard with Activity of
- Top 5 IPs Blocked
- Top 5 Countries Blocked
- Top 5 Failed Logins
- To do list
I wish if SecuPress Team add these features in upcoming updates.
The last thing I don’t like about the SecuPress is that You need an active Licence to use pro features. However, You can always renew your license at a discounted price.
Wrapping Things Up:
Getting hacked sucks. I had it happen years ago and, while I thankfully had a backup, it was still a major pain to deal with (unless you have a WordPress customer service team to handle things).
If you’re a casual user, You can give a try to SecuPress Free.
But if you’re running a serious business, you might want to consider splurging on SecuPress premium options for even more protection.
